The classic 2 player game, known also by the name checkers, is played on an 8 by 8 checkered board with each player having 12 tokens of their colour in their half. Moving your pieces in a diagonal direction you aim to capture your opponents by leaping across, you take up defensive positions to stop the leaping and you aim to reach the other side so you can upgrade your piece to one that can travel backwards.
